THE EARTH

Image
Earth (or the Earth ) is the third planet from the Sun, and the densest and fifth-largest of the eight planets in the Solar System. It is also the largest of the Solar System's four terrestrial planets. It is sometimes referred to as the World, the Blue Planet, or by its Latin name, Terra . Home to millions of species including humans, Earth is currently the only place in the universe where life is known to exist. The planet formed 4.54 billion years ago, and life appeared on its surface within a billion years. Since then, Earth's biosphere has significantly altered the atmosphere and other abiotic conditions on the planet, enabling the proliferation of aerobic organisms as well as the formation of the ozone layer which, together with Earth's magnetic field, blocks harmful solar radiation, permitting life on land. The physical properties of the Earth, as well as its geological history and orbit, have allowed life to persist during this period. Without intervention, the

THE DANGEROUS OF DEFORESTASI FOR OUR EARTH

Image
Timber Industry Trees are logged both legally an illegally to supply the timber trade. The industry is worth billions of pounds/dollars as the insatiable demand for wood in Japan, Europe and USA grows. There are governments who sell acres of forests to companies for a pitance in the premise that local workers are employed. Other governments have even offered their forests as payment for weapons! In South America, in particular Brazil, criminal gangs have entered protected Indian reservations and felled trees. These are then passed into the market with false certification. Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth have been instrumental in making the World aware of this problem. Yet, the problem still exists in other countries/areas such as South East Asia. Even Russian temperate forests are suffering due to the demand for timber from Japan. Now consider the impact of a tree being felled. Despite the noise pollution from the chainsaw, the tree falls to the ground, striking surro

INSOMNIA AND ITS PROBLEM

Insomnia: The perception or complaint of inadequate or poor-quality sleep because of one or more of the following: difficulty falling asleep; waking up frequently during the night with difficulty returning to sleep; waking up too early in the morning; or unrefreshing sleep. HOW TO GIVE GOOD EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN

Image
Inspiration to learn Despite all this, some children in care can and do get the best out of the education system. For some that will mean good school grades and a university degree. For others, it will mean finding a vocation that leads to work they enjoy. The linking factor for those who do well despite their care experience seems to be an inspiring person who has faith in a young person’s abilities. Getting better educational support Recent government legislation has suggested a number of ways that children in care can get more help. Since 2006, local authorities have had the power to make schools admit children in care, even if the school is already full. Many schools have appointed designated teachers for children in care and this will become a legal requirement from September 2009. These give personal advice and support to a child. If they are upset or disruptive, the teacher can help them to continue to cope, or – if the situation is serious – sometimes find alte
